Hi Roger, yea I had a consumer Technics SV-DA10. My DAT tapes didn't make it through the years, but they did enable me to take my recordings to work, fortunately.

Yep we had a Bel 8 channel NR unit on the Tascam 58 at home. Never really liked it. NR was the bad guy until Dolby SR came out. That was really a game changer, especially on our 16mm film bays but it came just too late, as within a year or two we'd got the AMS and analogue quickly disappeared.

Good to hear. I really miss the old pro machines. I've always fancied buying up an old Studer A800 to tinker with, but I made a promise when I bought the hovercraft(!) that I wouldn't be buying any more large money-pits.
