Siemens W295B EQ Question

Hey gues,

Dumb question and I admit, I am a hardware NOOB. I've been reading about the old Sitral consoles from Siemens and how the W295 eqs were some of the first to be powered by transistor preamps as opposed to tubes. My question is, would it have been possible to power these with a tube pre amp? This question is merely for educational purposes on my end, I just like to geek out and learn new things. Was the eq required to be powered by transistors?

For experiments like that, it would be more feasible to use some old passive EQ and try a few preamps with it to see, errr... hear what you like the best. Moding W295 with some kind of external (tube) amp is kind of strange thing to do.
