Hi everyone ??Just wanted to share my experience with Peluso microphones and see if anyone else had similar experience.
Or maybe I am just very unlucky ?
Anyway here is my story.
Basically my Peluso 2247le started to be very noisy at specially when received louder signal . Developed higher pitch squeak noise and pops . Anyway came to conclusion it’s capsule and ordered new Peluso cek47 from authorised dealer.
It arrived after two weeks and what a surprise capsule had a Lacker spilled on membrane part .

Anyway reported issue to dealer and they sent me replacement .
And by my surprise this had stretch marks on membrane on both sides

I can’t believe that something has such a poor quality control .
Or maybe I am just very unlucky and getting all the bad capsules somehow.

Have you contacted John Peluso directly? He's easy to contact and very responsive.

No I haven’t contacted him directly.
As dealing with Peluso authorities dealer is way easier from where I am located. Because of postage time and tax ..

I would go to his website and contact him.

I’m not sure a capsule would cause excessive noise. I would’ve replaced the tube.

I think I haven’t elaborated myself clear enough.
The original capsule was making noise and yes damaged capsules make noise .
I ordered original Peluso cek-47 replacement capsule ,and when it arrived There was visible damage which I tried to demonstrate on video . I still proceeded to install this capsule which fixed noise how ever frequency response wasn’t what it should be on one side it sounds way darker then other side therefore I requested replacement and they sent me another one ,3rd capsule now .
And again it arrived and had stretch marks and wrinkles on membrane. All I really wanted to share my experience with Peluso microphones. Which in my experience make me conclude that mr Peluso has very bad quality control.

I have the highest regard for John Peluso and his mics. I own 4 of them and over the past 17 years when ever I needed advice or, on a rare occasion. a physical assessment and remediation of a problem he has always been available, and absolutely fair in his business dealings. John can and will put your mic in first rate condition if that is what you are trying to achieve. You and your dealer have struck out and perhaps it is time to go the the source that can and will get the job done! I know this for a fact because I have watched him hand build his capsules, If he does the work in his shop you will get back the original factory specks!
It also appears to me you are in a "do it yourself mode" that brings with it a total abandonment of any Brand Blame for poor performance. Trashing Peluso mics from your own self servicing failures seams to me to be totally unfair.

I see your point. How ever those cek-47 capsules comes from Peluso factory and straight to dealer . So they must have went through quality control.
And it’s very unfair to blame my diy skills if I receive sealed damaged capsules from Peluso factory which supposedly went through quality control. And was build by hand of Highly Regadet by you Mr John Peluso.
I think he should do better and unfortunately for me I have to go through poorly made capsules.
As said maybe I was just unlucky .but I doubt.

I have to say that I respect a lot hughshouse and Henry Robinett above and their experiences with Peluso.

My experience with them was very different and not a positive one or one that would point me to think that they do quality pieces..

But hey, that’s my experience.. and I hope that who owns his mics could do some great music and enjoy them.

I’d definitely look in other caps or mics manufacturer before anything peluso.

Peluso seems like a nice guy and I’ve heard some recordings done with his mics that were surprisingly good for all of the people who bag on the company.

When Neumann started making capsules, Hiller, Maihak, Joachim Wetzel, Neumann themselves, and maybe others, were all working reskinning them after failure in the field, because it can really be that difficult to make a perfect capsule.

If you are reverse engineering something there are probably going to be some slips ‘twixt the cup and the lip.

That said, I saw a CK12 on eBay not too long ago that was advertised as a Peluso reskin, and it really surprised me to be able to see glue seeping out onto the edge of the diaphragm for part of it. It looked to me like something you’d have to clean up and do again if it came out like that.

I have noticed that he sells some parts for others to reskin capsules. He might want to emphasize trying to get the “gold dot” right in the middle of the jig setup, because I’ve seen some questionable usage. You really, really want tension to be even across the lugs and do everything you can to set yourself up for success there.

If someone is looking for DIY capsules, it is a really rough situation. For Neumann-esque capsules, I’d probably look into Thiersch, Beesneez, maybe Getwin (haven’t heard them). At least these are trying to get some physical details right. The Peluso capsule isn’t really fully replicating the structure of important subparts.
