New Klark Teknik 1176 compressor - Page 32

From what I heard in a shoot out against a new Universal Audio 1176, the KT and Warm versions sounded absolutely fine as long as they weren't pushed. They didn't distort very nicely and all-buttons-in didn't sound as good as the UA one.

But between normal to heavy gain reduction, the clones sounded great in comparison. They certainly sounded better than all the plugins. Though some of the plugins worked very well on some sources.

Exactly! It doesn't saturate like a blue stripe, but I actually think all buttons in can sound pretty good for certain types of material, like really breathy vocals. Maybe not as good as the og, I wouldn't know.

For my use, which is taming transients with 2-3db on the way in while tracking vox or bass, it does an excellent job! If I want color I'll add that itb anyway, not while tracking.

Yep....I use to use the older, silver 32 bit FET from Softube....all buttons in...on vocals and drums all the time. Great sound. I like it better actually, than the new 'improved' FET II.

Hi there! Could you please provide some information about the calibration process and the function of the VR5, VR6, VR7, and VR8 trimmers?

I already have some guides related to different 1176 clones, but I’m particularly interested in learning more about these 76kt trimmers.

I believe these are related to the trimmers in the 1176 circuit (Q bias, GR meter zero, GR meter tracking, Distor…), but it’s challenging to compare the small PCB inside the 76kt with the schematic.

Any advice would be appreciated!!
