The guy who plugged his guitar into the transatlantic submarine cable:
RIP George Anderson.
A past colleague from Teleglobe Canada. George started in subsea working the TAT-1 cable at the Sydney Mines CLS. He then worked CANTAT-2 in Beaver Harbour, and finally TAT-9, CANTAT-3, and CANUS in Pennant Point. He was a car enthusiast and great musician.
George always brought his guitar along for evening and night shifts. He told me that he used to get "loop backs" put up on CANTAT-2 voice circuits in London then plug his guitar into the patch panel (in Canada). This would give him the longest analogue delay on the planet!
