Buzzing/hum from amp - why?

I have a Fender Blues Junior amp that hums and buzzes when my guitar is plugged in. It makes no noise by itself or when a bass is plugged in or by switching to pickup position #1 . However, with every other pickup scenario it hums. If I play the guitar standing up and stand a certain distance away, it lessens. But I don’t want to have to do that each time when recording.

Is it the guitar then? Would a Hum-X ground line filter stop it?

It's caused by the guitar picking up environmental electrical noise. No, the Hum-X won't help. That's for ground loops. This isn't a loop.

Shielding the guitar might help.

What kind of guitar is it? What kind of pickups?
