ITB Compressor?

I may need to go totally In-The-Box for a month or so,

on my MacBook Pro, while I'm transitioning to my new studio.

I have everything covered, (Sontec 432, NSEQ, Manley VM, ATR-102), to go all ITB

except for a good (temporary :~) replacement compressor fo the Rupert Neve MPB.

Something with a similar character and ease of use... as you know I Live on the MPB & endorse it.

Any Ideas?

Unisum by tone projects is very good, give that a shot. Also the gml drc compressor is my fave compresser ever hardware or digital.

Haven’t heard a neve mbp plugin that’s worth it (I had one of those).

Caveat up front: I'm not an engineer and am not familiar with the Neve.

Perhaps try TDR Kotelnikov GE? If you want something similar to the TDR but with a lot more tweakability, Tone Projects Unisum.
I've been reading good things overall about the Masalec emulations by Relab, too.

Can't speak to the MBP - so sorry if this opinion does not interest. Will cosign Unisum as THE compression workhorse.

But also worth looking at the Molotok GE by Tokyo Dawn. It can have some character which you can have some control over - but generally speaking, it doesn't have that cloudy depth destroying thing that loads of 'analogue modelling' ITB compressors have. It also has a useful (slow) limiter built in, which is nice for a little tuck-in of your occasional sticky-out-bits.

Interestingly, the character of the compression itself reminds me a LOT of the RND MBP compressor - I always found that one to have a kind of groovey swing to it that really sat behind the beat in an interesting way. This really evokes that.

Hi JT, while I've heard only good things about the Unisum, try also the Sonoris Mastering Compressor – very clean "stays out of the way" sound, can do a tight VCA vibe, as minimal as you want, simple GUI, also very flexible.
