Oh my gosh I got a quote for amtico fancy vinyl floor to go over the electric heating today.
£6800!!! That’s laid in a slightly fancy pattern but that’s way above budget. Back to the drawing board for a rethink. 😵‍💫

Plenty of alternatives at much better value out there (already done the Amtico dance!).
Look out for reclaimed or cheaper still engineered parquet flooring. In my experience (installed this stuff in 3 different homes) spend the money on getting the right/best installer you can. Try and get a local tradesman because it will settle and you'll need it fixed reasonably quickly.

I’m looking at those suggestions thanks! It changes the whole heating plan but I’d prefer real oak anyway and for a lot less.

Air gap thingies going in everywhere

Steel cladding got delivered today. Starting Monday. Fancy soundproof Veluxes also arrived. The boys are frantically getting the roof finished.

…armoured electric and WiFi cable runs also got laid and patched in yesterday ready for action. Next couple of weeks are gonna be action-packed and I’m gonna be away for most of it. 😐😜

First skin up onto the air gap frame followed by acoustic boarding

Plastering has begun, steel cladding/roof all but done - the boys will take the protective plastic off at the very end (front steel flashing gets completed once the front cladding is up). Battens going up on the front for the 70s-stylee cladding (you'll see! ������). Front tempered acoustic glass bifold door and above windows arrive Thursday.
Is it weird to think that a gutter is sexy? These are flippen beautiful; hand-made by these legends! Cmon!

All the best for it, I'll be interested to hear your solution for the underfloor heating. I've found a suitable studio property in West Midlands where I live but it straddles the top 2 flood risk zones n being that it's close to a railway I'd need to float the floor. Having to budget for flooding with a floating floor plus underfloor heating I think I could blow my whole budget on just that!

Yeah that doesn’t sound like a very suitable spot unless the view or vibe of the building is really worth it.
When I was a kid and later on in bands my mum was always “Son, you need a day job/back up plan”…and I’m glad she drummed that into me coz I have a lot of friends who are now music teachers (something I couldn’t stand to do - I don’t have the patience). Love animals and people almost as much as music so it’s worked out great.
