PMC IB-1S pair, $12,500 with Bryston 3B amplifier and steel stands

After using two different Klein& Hummel monitors (0198 and 0300D) I needed to switch to a monitor that offered the bottom most octave of recorded musical
sound.

On a chance visit to Glenn Meadows's mastering room at Mayfield Mastering in Nashville, I had a fantastic listening experience. Glenn uses three PMC IB-1S with other PMC monitors as surround speakers. The sound was so even and full range that I was mightily impressed.

Of course Glenn's mastering room is custom built with extensive acoustical treatment. His room is made to offer a space where high quality monitors can sound their best.

Still, the sound stuck with me and I gradually became convinced that these were the new monitors for me.

I ordered them and had a great customer experience with PMC, with Maurice Patist their USA head man and with Frank Oglethorpe from PrismSound USA their distributor.

After some rather extensive new acoustic treatment in my room (thank you GIK Acoustics) the monitors sound incredible. Bass response is solid and non smeared. Midrange clarity is fantastic and revealing and treble extension is smooth and proper. Low bass is SUBstantial.

I played a mix I was working on and discovered some new details that needed correction. I did not even hear these on my other monitors.
