Hi all!

I'm setting up a permanent slinging solution with two KM184s in ORTF. But I'm at a loss how to actually go about dropping the mic's as neatly as possible. Also, I can't find any neat small stereo bars for my setup, all I can find is the standard ones and tiny ones for miniature microphones (out of my budget - at least that I've found).

Ideally it would all hang from a single point in the ceiling, but I'm worried about the cables twisting and whether I'd be able to put the mic's in the right angle? Would the twisting be avoided by having two XLR's and a safety wire in a single sock, would that be stiff enough?

Any great ideas?

Hanging from a single point is not gonna work. (Save for the horribly expensive schoeps carbon kevlar nano-tech wire)
Your mic will be turning ever so easy.
Make a bridle, hang it from 2 points.
(And cut your bar to length, it's a fixed setup, right?)

Thanks, Paul! If I'm hanging from two points, how would I tilt the mic's? Tilting the clips? Or would the weight from that just balance it out to level again?

Well, three points would be optimum... See the thread called something like 'best of flying mics'.
Will you be needing to adjust vertical angle? If not, then fiddling for a while would do the trick.
Otherwise you'd be fiddling every time you want to adjust :-)
