I'm posting this here because my Gearspace posting chops aren't so good. Maybe somebody is has some interest in this?
I have multiple boxes of old reel to reel tape, slogging my way through these and stumbled upon this.

An Orchestral recording made in the Bronx, NY, in March of 1968.
I'll post two little mp3 snippets. If anybody knows anything about this organization, I'm happy to supply the reel that this is recorded on.

To me it sounds like a halfway decent recording. Trying to figure out if the recordist used spaced Omnis??

I know nothing about them but listened to 1st one and its sounds nice and warm.

Only on laptop, will have listen in studio tomorrow to guess mics array.

Instinct says X/Y...probably wrong!

Thanks for listening! Sounds like a huge stereo image to me so I was thinking spaced Omnis? But mono summed sound acceptable as well. Unlike my spaced omni experiments which sound like poo when summed to mono.
Orchestral recording is something I'd love to do but would probably fail miserably at!

Ah well for recording an orchestra I follow Beckett's advice

The two clips sound like they're mic'd very differently; stereo position of the strings not the same.

First clip sounds very much like AB omnis spaced about 3' to 4'.

Second clip is hard to tell, the orchestra is so much 'under' the vocals.

I think you might be right? The L/R level difference is apparent in the transfer. I did nothing to the transfer EQ/?dynamic wise. Just straight off the 7.5ips tape into the DAW. Weird thing is is that that I'm playing this back on a restored Teac A3440 and the recorded audio comes back on tracks 1 and 3 with nothing on tracks 2 and 4.
Quarter track recording? I thought that quarter track recording would be on 1 and 2? Who knows. The recording off the original RCA branded reel has some level differences between L/R. That's about the only adjustment I did for the mp3 file.
Otherwise, I think its a nice recording?

So stereo consumer 1/4-track is 1,3 on one side (one direction), and 2,4 on the other (going the other direction; flipping the tape over).
