Academic Director-Audio Production, Digital Film-Making & Video Production & VEMG
The Art Institute of Las Vegas is currently seeking a dynamic Academic Director for the following programs:
*Audio Production
*Digital Filmmaking & Video Production
*Visual Effects & Motion Graphics
We specialize in the creative and applied arts that encompass a myriad of programs. We educate and prepare students with quality instructional programs that are designed to train skills used in today’s modern workplace. Our professional faculty brings state-of-the-industry knowledge and expertise to their instruction.
An Academic Director (AD) is the principal academic officer for a specific program or programs. Responsibilities include: day-to-day operations, assisting students toward successful program completion and staffing the classroom with faculty who support the mission of the college. This individual is responsible for providing academic leadership and development to faculty members. We are looking for a proven leader to develop, hire and train new faculty within each of these programs. The AD is co-responsible with the Campus Head of Academic Affairs for the fiscal well being of the department as it relates to education. Provides guidance and mentoring to students in support of the college programs designed to achieve student completion rates. This individual may teach one or two courses each quarter.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field with related professional certifications (i.e. ProTools). A minimum of 4+ year’s direct industry-related experience in one or more of the programs indicated. Held positions of increasingly responsible experience in the industry and/or Academic Affairs. Fiscal and personnel management experience. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills required. Prior teaching experience preferred.
Audio Production – audio technology and engineering, acoustics, the physics of sound, recording studio, live show performance, ProTools and audio post. A specialty in one or more of the following areas preferred:
*Electronics, specifically as they relate to Audio applications
*ProTools, ideally certified in ProTools (M) or (P)
*Audio Technology
*Live Sound Reinforcement
*Post Production Audio
*Broadcasting, specifically Audio
Digital Filmmaking and Video Production – expert video production and editing as well as production sound and sound editing. Pre-production, including scriptwriting, production management; advanced proficiency using various makes of digital video cameras and microphones in the studio and on location; DVD authoring; post-production proficiency using AVID, FINAL CUT PRO and/or Premiere. Other background may include knowledge of film and broadcasting history, theory and media effects.
Visual Effects & Motion Graphics - must have expert knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, 3ds Max and Combustion software.
