I remember a song from the late 90s or early 00s timeframe and for the life of me cannot find it.
It's a chill-out electronic track with a female speaking over the music.
She says:
"Swaying back and forth...a beautiful thing was taking me away"
She basically repeats that throughout the entire track.
I've found the sample used in a few other songs including Deep Dive Corp - Back and Forth.
But that's not the song. Anyone remember the track I'm talking about??
Would love to know the name so I can listen again.

Try a lyrics search engine. There are quite a few out there. Type the lyrics and the engine finds key word matches.

That was actually a great idea but unfortunately most of what I found were rap songs.
I'm sure it's some old obscure mix someone made ages ago and the most frustrating thing is I had a clip on a cassette tape I recorded off the radio (yes the track is that old) but now the tape has been lost. I even used Google to find a copy on YouTube so I know it exists! I forgot to like or save it and when I went to search YouTube history I tried narrowing down the results but selecting a timeframe (last 3 months) to delete in order to make the search easier and I dont know if I did something wrong or Google just sucks because it deleted my entire history! Ugh

I dont know if it helps but this track has the exact sample I'm talking about so even just identifying where the sample is from might help. Are you familiar with the sample at the beginning of this track?

No, I haven't heard that specific sample, but to my ears it sounds similar to what can be used to create it and that being a convolution reverb with an impulse response.

I really thought I was on to something with this site!!
While searching I was able to at least verify the sample came from a 60's movie called "Alice in Acidland". So at least that much has been verified. The lyrics are:

And no it's not DJ Buzz. The track I'm thinking of almost reminded me of early Orb music.

The lyrics are not in that order either. The line used most often is "Swaying Back and Forth" which is repeated in sync with a slow rhythm and ethereal sounding pads.

Soooo despite having this info I was STILL unable to find the song even with Whosampled. That is a useful site though!

Best wishes finding the song. It happened to me last year. Out of the blue, I began hearing a song playing in my head. I wanted to hear it on YouTube but I couldn't remember the name of the song nor the band that played it.

I kept searching Google and I still couldn't find it. I gave up and a few weeks later I kept hearing the song in my head again, lol. Anyway, to make a long story short, I eventually found it. It was Pop Musik by M.

Maybe I'll have the same luck as you at some point. Having the same issue with hearing the song in my head over and over.
They say the only way to get a song out of your head is to listen to it until completion so your brain can resolve it I guess.

Just figured since there's a fair number of Gen X in here maybe someone might recall the track I was referring to.

Well it's got the right sample but it's not the right track. The one I'm thinking of is much more atmospheric and chill. I remember. It had pads and maybe even some choir samples that sounded beautiful with the vocal sample. Wasn't even much in the way of drums either. I've basically given up hope of ever finding it. It's out there somewhere on youtube but likely by an obscure artist from the 90s. What did the track you're looking for sound like?

I have read through the entire convo, because I knew this lyrics from a 2005 electronic song called Advance by Marcel Woods. I know he used a sample of the lyrics , but yesterday a song started to play while I was listening to a lounge music set on youtube.

The lyrics seemed so familiar, but the melody was so chill, never heard that before. I recognized the lyrics and started looking for the O.G song, and bumped into this forum.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately not it but ita definitely the correct sample. The one you posted is indeed chill but it leans more towards jazzy. The one I'm thinking of has a more haunting vibe to it.

One other detail I just remembered is whatever percussion was in the track reminded me of clock sounds. Maybe that might help? 🤷‍♂️

That's probably because there were three different versions of it:

Lyric is very familiar. I,m sure I've heard it on Groove Salad back in the day. Not much help I know but it may pop into my head.......
