First Beta coming Spring 2024

A delay in motion — that’s a beautiful thing. DC19 is a playable delay, an experimental plugin built with hardware controllers in mind.

Put another way: where a standard delay gives you a button, DC19 gives you a slider.



Though still early in its development, we wanted to make DC19 available for presale to gauge interest in the concept. Think of a purchase today as an investment in the future of this experimental plugin.

Is this the be-all-end-all of delays? Absolutely not. It’s a little weirdo.

Crazy that Goodhertz didn't already have a delay, seems right up their alley. This looks like a fun one.

Ha it's so up our alley that it's a little daunting to make because we have so many things we wanted to do in a delay.

That's why we made this "little weirdo" series to focus on one or two concepts vs a plugin like Tupe (or Tupe Wow), which is many concepts and many advanced pages. Hope you like it!

Haha, I bet! Tupe is such a beast, personally I love how deep it is, but delays can be harder to get your head around, so a Tupe level delay might be daunting on the user side too. Looking forward to this little weirdo.

DC19 Beta 2 is out now!

Here are the main changes:

• Added SPRING reverb section with SPRING HOLD macro & decay controls
• Added tape LOFI control, which moves through several different tape machines seamlessly
• Added tape WOBBLE control with stereo/mono option
• Made it zero latency! (and fixed the reported latency)
• Added HQ Mode! (also zero latency)
• Added DRY PAN control
• Added output gain meters
• Pan link control now links input modes, output panners, and output gain sliders

Just updated, it's coming together nicely! Couple of quick questions on the filter, it's bandpass only right? And the % slider is the amount of resonance? And it's inside the feedback loop right?

That's basically right, yes. The Filter Amount % controls the octave bandwidth of the "top". If you push the frequency high or low enough the filter becomes a high pass / low pass only.

The filter isn't a traditional bandpass in that it has a fully flat top (which is critical since it's in the feedback loop).

We're planning to have a full block diagram once we finish the manual, which I think would go a long way with this plugin 😅

So much flexibility. Really sounds great too. Really liking it. I love delays and have many of them. DC19 is one of the unique standouts.

Sounds good but CPU usage is very intense - in Ableton 12 (M1 Max MBP) average CPU hovers around 8% (with nothing else loaded) but current load bounces around 50%.

With a lightweight VST loaded on the track alone (TAL Bassline 101) that doesn't present any problems but with a more CPU intensive plugin (Softube Model 77) average CPU moves to 25-30% and spikes will top 100% and cause crackles. (for reference, Model 77 alone sits at 20-25% on average and current)

CPU usage should not be that high for DC19. On our M1 Max MBP, DC19 uses around 3% in Ableton and 7% in HQ Mode (at 48k, 1024 buffer). Which also matches what the DSP usage shows in the Diagnostic pane:

We've also done tests with hundreds of instances on M1/M2's in Ableton.

Sure thing - I've also attached a screen shot of the CPU monitor with DC19 as the only plugin running in Ableton. I just threw Tupe on solo since I reinstalled them all today, average sits at 5% and current at 6-7%.

Thanks for this! We're looking into it now — looks like the 64 buffer size especially is something we can improve in Ableton. Would you mind DM'ing me your Goodhertz account email so we can send something to beta test when we're ready?

Not currently. DC19 is a unique launch for us because it had a long preorder period and those users were heavily involved in the beta testing. That said, we may roll something out along those lines later this year.
