Musio, the app praised by composers and producers for its high-quality sound libraries, has introduced its most requested feature yet: Mic Position Mixes. With this update, users can now use the new built-in mixer to control levels and compare different sound sources such as bespoke mixes and microphone positions: bringing Musio one step closer to being the ultimate tool for composers seeking the perfect sound.
Unlike other digital mic simulation plugins, Musio’s Mic Position Mixes is built on recordings made with real microphones in legendary studios across the world—captured with state-of-the-art setups like Neumann M50 tube mics on a Decca Tree array, and mixed by top engineers, including the renowned Dennis Sands, who has been nominated for four Academy Awards in the category Best Sound.
In addition to building this new feature for the iconic CineSymphony series, the Musio team traveled across the globe, capturing culturally unique sounds in Reykjavík, Iceland, and Cape Town, South Africa—ensuring that every mic position reflects the depth, space, and authenticity of its original recording environment.
"It’s always exciting to release something that we know our users really want," says Chris Hayzel, who stepped into the CEO role in late 2024. "And they’ve been very clear: They want more control over their sounds. The nice thing is the recordings were already designed for this—we just had to bring it all together."
With thousands of world-class sounds, Musio has become a go-to resource for composers working in film, TV, and beyond. By making the professional-grade sample libraries of Cinesamples more affordable and accessible, Musio has carved out a unique place in the industry.
