I really wish I could feel it though! One thing that bugs me about Zoom stuff is that it always feels like the price point compromise is in the build quality/chassis. I think that's a common complaint and I wonder if this one will be more robustly built.

On Taperssection, they link to a German video that anticipates prices will be €400 or less, with modules running €60-80.

Could be a great unit -- depending on preamp, mic and AD quality...

That's the one I use. But.. now I got a lot of GAS for the H6

Wow... 6 simultaneous mics ! you can record a string quartet (one mic per player), and have a stereo overhead room mic as well with this baby.

Same here. I've been wanting to pick up something for recording samples while I'm out and about. Purely on a functional basis, several Zoom models blow away competing products on a features vs. price basis. Especially the ones with XLR inputs.

My question is: How's the build quality? Are the Zooms sturdy and reliable, in general?

Can this do 6 line inputs too (you can over-ride the h4n mics)? I.e. can I bring this and a lunchbox to a session?

Anyone already tried the new Zoom H6 with 4x external condenser mics? There is also possibility to detach the Zoom mic and replace it with another 2x XLR/TRS inputs. I'm wondering if the 4 AA bats inside could handle 6x phantom power for external condenser mics, let's say 6mA current consumption each... and how's the quality of such a preamp.
