EQF 810 - Parametric Equalizer

Priced at $879, the EQF 810 is available immediately.

what is the difference between this and yur older ASC EQ, aside from the additional hi & lowpass filters?

It is almost $200 more expensive. Now when they are selling out the ASC its more than $300 difference. i still would prefer the new version though. But at a price of nearly $900 its getting close to other nice eq.s like the Neve 8803 or 500 series version of SSL eq.

Yeah these prices are a bit up their. Shrugs.

Speck manufactured the ASC equalizer for 18 years and it was discontinued last year…. not a bad run for the ASC EQ. I want to keep a half rack, “non-500 format” EQ in our product line but I thought the original ASC was getting a bit dated. The EQF810 now replaces the ASC with additional features.

The major differences are: Variable low and high pass filters, a larger Jensen output transformer, front panel switch that selects transformer or active-balanced output, and internal linear power supply that uses a robust toroidal transformer.

Regarding the price… the MSRP for the ASC was $779. The new EQF 810 is $879. $100 increase.

Understood and I’m not knocking it but now the playing field is different and with the used market now being flooded with key pieces that’s bargainable...... it’s going to be a minor rough ride.

But much success and if one comes across my hands I’ll purchase it.

so the basic tone of the EQF 810 is basically the same as the older ASC ?

I like the features of this design. The LM band goes down to 40 hz, which in combination with the Q control would be useful for shaping the low end. Also the range of the HP and LP filters is really nice as well. A stereo pair of these would be really flexible for all kinds of uses.

Honestly, besides the Klark Tekniq stuff, this is the only dedicated hardware EQ I'm interested in. It looks absolutely wonderful!

The ASC-V has the same circuitry as the EQF 810 but lacks the filter section and front panel active/transformer select switch.

Dang, I own two Speck ASC-T's and the lack of HP & LP filters are my only complaint with them! Solid upgrade!

Hi Vince, Is there any similarity at all between these new EQs sonically/texturally, and the old Speck SSM 24 ? In terms of colour/tone/sweepability etc ?

And is there a stereo paired version of the Speck ASC-T or the new EQF810 ?
