Color me intrigued. I've wanted to get some kind of LA3 clone for a while and if these sound any good at all I may not be able to resist a pair.

With audioscapes reputation, I wouldn’t be surprised if they sounded as good or better than a la3a

There is no sounding 'better' than a real LA3A; only different.

But considering that the closest most folks will ever get to a real LA3A is by using a plugin emulation, in a way that's sort of a moot point.

799$ seems fair, Chris builds world class gear.
IC's the BRUTE is about 899$ new.
are there any other 500 series LA3A / LA4A alternatives that i'm not aware of?

We all want a deal, but this price seems reasonable to me. Add in his product scarcity, AS could legit raise prices across the board and not take a hit on demand. Ima guess they will build and sell a lot of these before I'm able to wake the day after an inventory announcement and buy one.

Got to see this one at NAMM yesterday. Looks great and a very solid build. Like a tank. Looking forward to trying this one

Yeah you’re right I shouldn’t use the word better. I really enjoy their mods/interpretations to classic gear and feel like they stay true to the original if they add something new.

i'd guess the tree audio lc-1 is kinda closely related to the inward connections the brute.

This cool but most clones don’t really nail ‘that’ mid range push that makes them so favoured for vocals.

Ohh nice, ill be eyeing this one. I was contemplating on a Leviathan or Brute to put after my BAC500. This looks great.

Serpent Audio Chimera is an LA3A in a 500 series unit, it's a high price bracket though.

I do fancy this AS 3A .... it looks very well made and the mod should make it very useful for an alternative to the usual suspects for tracking vocals.

This is true, but I will say that Chris is a pretty special builder. It's definitely got a chance.

The V3A has ALL of the mid-push and forward characters of the original, vintage units just as you'd expect - this was a CRUCIAL part of recreating this beast of a compressor.

We couldn't be any MORE pleased with what we've achieved in the 500-series form factor!

We're working on more 500-series gear, with an AMAZING 'rock n roll' preamp first to be released!

The V3A should be officially released within 2-3 weeks now, SO CLOSE!

Yes and no, hahaha.

While not officially announced (aside from forum talk and social commenting - we will be offering a 1RU STEREO version of the V3A - aptly named the D3A!

It leverages the amazing LTL HyperMatter chassis and PSU design to ensure the unit has all the sonic nuance, transient detail and frequency response that the V3A circuit exudes.

No price on this yet, but we’d guess it will be around $1799 or so. Also has a cool extra feature to run one channel into the other in series via the push of a button !!
