in the manual they say the preamps in the eq unit are the same/taken from the preamp unit but sans the ultra function which is supposed to model the harmonics better.

only the standalone pre plugin includes the ultra option currently, but it would be great to see it added to the EQ and channel strip at some point. that is the sound.

yeah, the preamp thing is all a bit confusing. the ultra function should be available everywhere. the preamps should also be the same in all the modules.

in the channelstrip eg one can choose to use the 8122 eq and the 8122 preamp but not the 3102 eq and 3102 preamp. because there is no 3102 preamp choice.

and in the eq module you can only choose the eq version but the preamps are not to be known from which version they are.

and in the manual refering to the channelstrip module starting from page 66 there is description of 10 preamps but in the channelstrip you can only choose 7. one is the H73 tube but where are the other 3?!

i know the preamps are very subtle and in the end it doesn't matter me thinks, but nonetheless it puzzles me a bit ... how could i "emulate" mixing on a neve 8068 with the correct signalflow?

channelstrip with 3102 eq, than the comp, than just the mix (8066) preamp? or the 8252/8254 preamp to simulate the compressor signalflow?

i think i know the answer: just listen ;-)

Yep a half dozen AI ones for the Eq. Wish there were for the comp.

Gold 5 - rel. A019 / Gold 5 (trial) - rel. A014:

• New engine, disk space improved and better stability.

If disk space is improved, does the update remove the excess data or do we have to re-install?

Aquarius updates files with smaller file sizes, no reinstallation required.

That's true for the staging area as well? Or does it need a manual purge?

If the files are smaller, the .zip files should also be smaller, but this is just an educated guess. I will try to get more information on Monday.

In any case, instead of purging the whole stage area, you can delete a specific product folder manually.

is the pan knob similar to fire the pan but just one neve emulation? does it overwrite the DAWs pan law? and why can i not pan a gold eq mono instance? does it always have to be a stereo track if i want to use the pan knob?

I put Gold 5 channel strip in plugin doctor. No aliasing from the preamp, and the oversampling handles the aliasing from the compressor very well. I'm impressed.

It would be good to add this to the manual.
