High. Starting at 6 800 GBP ex vat and shipping. Going up to £ 8,715.00 ex vat and shipping fully decked out with all the options and extras. So basically the price of a fine upright piano.

Is it a lighter keybed, or heavy like Fatar?

Fixed weight, or any options or settings available?

Wondering if they can also fine-tune the keybed to be as light as physically possible.

We can dial in the feel of the keyboard here, from light touch to heavy grand piano feel.

Keyboard feel can be dialled in to customer preference. If you want super light- or heavier.

Price is maybe £1k or £2k more than I was expecting.

I think used Rhodes are going to hit £5k within the next couple of years, so it’s not exactly in a different stratosphere price-wise.

I think it sounds nice. Definitely upmarket pricing.

Perhaps this is the Tesla business model: halo product first, $2500 version later.

Clips sound great but agreed with others on the pricing - 10k is a hard sell when a fully overhauled Fender, later mk1, or mk2 is in the $4-6000 range.

Indeed it's not, but it is that the real thing regularly goes for 1/4th the price, half if we're talking like new condition.

That depends where you are. In the UK you’re talking around £4k

The Rhodes was never meant to be a luxury collectors keyboard. Where’s the affordable version meant to inspire love of keyboards to kids that would actually be in line with Harold’s vision for his invention?

10k? Lel. Anyways, what else is new in the audio world today?...

Of course it’s at the Unobtanium level for
all but a handful of musicians with large cash
reserves or plenty of room on the platinum
credit card.

Personally, I’d rather buy a Moog One and have
$5k left over, or a Hammond XK-5 and have $7k
left over. I’d use both of those way more than I’d
ever use this new Rhodes.

Yes you can still find a beat-up original Rhodes
and restore it for far less money.

The last company to buy the Rhodes name
and build a “new” Rhodes went bankrupt. And their
product only cost between $5 and $8k. They
couldn’t sell enough to cover their startup costs,
and they were slow to deliver. Actually had one
of these “new” Rhodes on a tour and it really
sounded muffled and was difficult to play.
I hope this new Rhodes pans out to be better
in the playability department, at least.

For now, I’d go with Vintage Vibe if you are
hell-bent on a hardware product.

As for sound..meh. Orange Tree Samples Model
E sounds great and in a track no one could tell
the difference.

Just for some context, a one million dollar house here requires a 10% down payment, which is 100,000. This is just 30,000TT short of that.

How much does a 70's suitcase Rhodes go for these days?

behringer will likely introduce their own version at a fraction of the price. ha ha ha ha...

the interesting thing about owning a rhodes is you get an actual electro-mechanical instrument. that can be done much cheaper than this while still producing a quality product. manufacture it in asia, skip all of the dsp and effects stuff, spend the money where it counts, etc.

Sold my SeventyThree MK1 10 years ago at a price I can now only dream of. Sigh

We only have to make sure that your job doesn't get shipped off to Asia, right?

wow, sorry but... no, not even close IMO. Listening to their demos on the website right now. Like every Rhodes VI to this day it sounds really cheap compared to the real deal to me.
