Hi all

I'm looking for advice on getting some great piano samples.

I heard the standard Giga piano - sounds good. Have no use for gigastudio software though.

Have heard the steinberg grand is good but i work in PT and i don't think there's a way to import the samples elsewhere.

I even read that the Mach5 supplies a decent piano sample or two.

I've got Kontakt and Translator, which'll be RTAS ready soon(!), so format isn't a problem.

Any ideas folks?! would like something sounding really impressive...

Bardstown Audio's Bosendorfer piano is one of the more popular. Very good sounding ...4 CD's worth of samples!

My favorite piano right now is the Vintaudio Yamaha C7... incredible detail to the sound and VERY playable.

Yeah, the Bardstown Bosendorfer kills. I just used it on a tune for a record that was piano/vocal/cello only. I actually recorded some wild damper pedal samples to put in appropriatly for a little extra "realism"... you know, the "ffft ffft" sound we try to get rid of when recording the real thing.

And Kip (at Bardstown) is great... I called him to see if he'd recorded the pedal samples from the instrument he sampled... he thought I was funny for wanting to hear the pedal, and said no he hadn't. Too bad. Don't tell, but I'm using some badly recorded pedal samples I grabbed from a "famous" C7 in Malibu... so much for "realism". Sometime I want to do it right and do some velocity switching damper pedals attacks and releases...

The bosendorfer samples supplied with the MachFive are pretty amazing and as of now the best piano samples I have.

Another one I really enjoy using is the Post Musical Instruments Bosendorfer. Sounds real nice.
