me neither but I am hoping and saying prayers every night that it will have something to do with automatic plugin delay compensation for ProTools and nice multi processor functionality so I can finaly realy use my dual 800

I do not know as well, if it does not add anything to PT then thats all I use. I have no Net on the computer and once finished recording I turn it off and head home to the PCevileye

actually, from what i have heard. it will make PT hardware kinda incompatible.

oh, and native audio with almost no latency. vastly improved USB drivers... couple other things. its supposed to be a godsend for the native market, a nightmare for digi.

i just wish they would come out with quad processors. i have yet to tap out my dualGHZ but.... more is better.

Do you think it'll be auto delay compensation for HD only? Is instanciation on the fly likely too? MIX user's are really going to see the lay of the land when PT hit's 6 and OSX.

I was hoping there would be more exciting news other than it looking pretty.
I wish I'd seen the PT 6.0 OSX beta that has been spotted around...

the auto delay compensation for plugins is one I've asked digi guys for years now .... and last time I asked they seemed to tell me in their own odd way by not saying anything about future releases that it is on it's way and that OS X would definately have something to do with it ....

but with digi you never know ... I hope they keep surprising us with good things .... like they have done uptill now ....

apparently the auto compensation will take a load of processing to take care of and when digi surveyed a sample user base, most would rather not have auto compensation and more dsp.... at least thats what i heard through the grapevine.

I don't know what software makers have planned for OS X, but as far as the operating system itself goes, the upgrade from 9 to X is roughly the equivalent of Ford taking the Fiesta and having BMW redesign everything except for the body panels and steering wheel. There is just a whole lot more system-level stuff that software manufacturers can easily take advantage of.

Stability, stability, stability. And Digi will finally be able to do a major overhaul of the software (no point in doing it now if they have to redo it for OS X is the logic, here.)

I am waiting for OS X because of Digidesign. I could use iLogic or Digital unPerformer, but I don´t get along very well with´em.
I hope sometime soon, I can use PT LE 6 on OSX and take advantage of my Dual 533...

Nuendo on OSX........all I have to say....fast, stable, reliable...etc etc etc! heh

Jules, the biggest change is that mac users finally have an operating system that doesn't crash. yuktyy
In OS9 it was annoying to capture a good take, hit stop in your virtual transport (in Spark for example) and then watch your mouse freeze up. That happens ALL the time in OS9.

Also, OSX has system level 24bit/96kHz multichannel audio and midi support which should make a huge difference. Read Apple's description of what they call "CORE" audio at:

So Opus2000, when is a final version of Nuendo for OSX supposed to be available? I'm going to break down and buy Deck 3.5 if they don't hurry up!

A Beta tester I am not...only seen it on a beta testers machine...
if you go to the Nuendo site you will see that they are having events for Apple shows that are showing the OSX version to the public........:eek:

I can tell you it is very very stable......looks really nice too

The man saying stable is on the money.
The other part is proper multi-tasking, where the background tasks continue working away in the background at a determinable rate, rather than os9.what.ever's way of stealing most of the clocks for what's in the focus.
This gets more and more important as the machines get faster and more powerful, and we ask 'em to do more an' more simultaneously.
Before anyone else points out I don't know too much specific to macs, I will, but everything above aplies to unix, which is what osX is based around.

Yes, OSX is finally multi-thread capable....I never realized this till just recently...
without a doubt OSX will change the way that mac's operate entirely(well, the same but with a twist of lemming they always say! heh )
I'm wondering if PT will carbonize it and truly make it even faster.....

"Proper multitasking" means that "what's in the focus" will NOT have as many system resources available. For real-time audio production this is not exactly a feature although it's great for graphics applications that need to render high resolution output files.

Improper multitasking and the ability to run without using virtual memory is a lot of why the Mac has remained the system of choice for audio.

The best way to make a program work great on Mac OSX is not to carbonize it but to rewrite it entirely in "cocoa" OSX native language . Another great advantage of Mac OSX is that there are no more extensions (source of conflicts),and a much better graphical gestion

OS X uses dual processors at the root level - every program run on OS X will benefit from having them. Also - we'll finally see the fruit of Apple's purchase of the Op'Coders. The pre-release core midi functionality looks a lot like Aqua OMS to me (which is a good thing). Methinks Digi better stick to the middle & high ends of the market - because Apple's gonna take the low end and keep it.

The really good thing on OS X is that when some other program you are running at the same time as your real work (PT6.0 or whatever) crashes - it doesn't hose your other applications. I like OS X a lot - it is just taking a long time to get many of the functions implemented.
