I had a bad night yesterday . I decided to add another ssd drive to my mac 5,1 . and in the process i ended up popping out the main sdd that was currently being used . The computer was off but my duet firewire was still connected. it always has a flashing light on even when the computer is off . i also noticed the the phantom power red light was also lit . but when i popped the ssd out and popped it back in the light turned off . which to me seemed weird . when i turn the computer back on my computer does not recognize the duet anymore i tried to re install maestro but nothing . i tried fidgeting with the cable but still nothing .
Im not sure know if this info might help but ...
when i first got this computer I had trouble getting it to work . i was using sierra but managed to get it working and hadn't had any trouble since . but since then i upgraded to high sierra and the duet worked perfectly . but when i poped the ssd drive of the main computer everything stopped the lights still turn on but the computer won detect the duet .
any ideas to get this working again ? im stumped
Hey! That sounds really frustrating—sorry you’re dealing with this.
Since the lights are still turning on, your Duet might still have power, but the connection got messed up. Here are a few simple things to try:
Reset the PRAM and SMC on your Mac—this often fixes hardware detection issues.
Try a different FireWire cable or port if possible.
Boot into macOS with the Duet unplugged, then plug it in after startup.
Check System Information > FireWire to see if it’s being detected at all.
If you have access to macOS Sierra, test it there again just to rule out software issues.
Hope one of these helps—it might just be a weird glitch after pulling the SSD. Let us know how it goes!
