Exactly. Once you have something that meets your needs and sounds good I feel like you should stick with it as long as possible.
Personally, I'd love to run my lynx for the next 15 years. If they make a new connection card for it 5 to 7 years down the line... I'll be buying it to keep it going.
I know people that are still running the silver boxes that'll keep them till the box dies.
Honestly that's part of what scares me about avid. I've seen their system change so many times over the years and the ambiguous "we no longer support it but it'll probably work" thing isn't the game I want to play. If I could have bought a pair of 192 and known that they'd be good for another 5 to 10 years I would have been happy to do that. But I don't want to live in fear that any day an update could break my system.
