Reviving this thread to give some RME love, as I too purchased an interface (UCX II) + ARC USB last year and have been exceedingly happy with them both.
The only real pain points were the driver setup (I’ve done it on two different computers at this point, both Apple silicon and both chock full of tedium). There’s also a learning curve with TotalMix.
That juice tho….so worth the squeeze! The UCX has been super stable and has accommodated every configuration I’ve thrown at it. Zero sound quality or noise issues in or out. The hardware is thoughtfully designed and clearly built to last, and then of course there's RME’s legendary driver support.
Also the ARC! Speeds up workflows, great layout and ergonomics - just a pleasure to use. Taking a few minutes to customize the ARC will add years to your life. Example - being able to
bring the TotalMix window in and out of focus via ARC key command is just so ridiculously useful with my single computer monitor setup.
Overall, upgrading to an RME interface + ARC was the best purchase decision I made last year by a mile. There’s reason to believe it will provide many years (decades?!) of service! Zero regrets!
* No I don’t work for RME, Synthax, an authorized reseller, etc. Sharing my unsolicited praise because a system this good deserves applause *
