Apple finally landed that knockout blow

I have pretty much everything installed on the new MiniPro 4. Anyone know where the plugin presets and preferences for ProTools and my sessions are stored?

I am disappointed that in spite of being a part of Complete, apparently neither the Pro Compressor and the Pro Limiter are Silicon. PT won't load either of them without Rosetta. I do NOT want to use Rosetta on this machine.

that said DB33 from Air Instruments IS Silicon.

Are you on the latest PT?

Sounds to me you better replace these two in your projects. If need be you can install Rosetta2 temporarily if you need to print or whatever and then delete it.

I think your idea not to use non-translated tools is sound.

Rosetta2 is non-trivial to remove once installed. A temporary install is not realistic.

Yes, but an install has no real downsides, as far as I know.

Rosetta just existing doesn't cause problems aside from consuming disk space.

Are you using Avid Link? It's (Avid Link) kind of cumbersome but it does keep everything in one place and tells you what you've got installed and not etc.

Uninstall Rosetta 2 on macOS

It's an ego or cleanliness thing, I feel. I have Rosetta2 installed all the time. Basically just to run older instruments.

I have it for Absynth 5.

Yeah, I agree, or absolutely understand people not wanting to run Rosetta 2 on anything handling audio in work mode, and shame on those devs that can't seem to get their sh1t together to even make an installer that doesn't require it is an embarrassment on them, as just smells like or strongly hints that they don't know what they are doing... and it's not like this apple silicon thing is breaking news..

but there are a few things I still require Rosetta 2 for, like StereoMonoize or whatnot iirc, for ease of translating audio exports from one daw to PT or whatnot... (but that's after it's been exported and doesn't matter), and there are a lot of installers that still require it and whatnot...

It doesn't get my panties in a twist that much unless I was having to run something while working on it in Rosetta 2 or equivalent shell..

(ala Melodyne or anything ARA with Logic etc...they gotta figure that out....if Rogue Amoeba managed to get past the same barriers of security concerns with Apple from what I understand the tangle is about ... I would hope damn Ceremony could and the rest of the open sourced ARA products/protocol....)

(or the occasional legacy instrument export.. )...
