Hi all

So Windows 8.1 goes end of support in January.

I have my home studio laptop installed with a gazillions of VSTs and software programs and I don't know the best way of moving forward.

I think I want to clone my laptop so that I have a backup of exactly what I have now that could easily be installed and booted up from another system.

I'd then want to upgrade my laptop to Windows 11 so that it has the most longevity support wise.

Obviously this comes with some potential issues with software working with the new OS.

Can you please let me know if I'm on the right lines and what products to use to do this as easily and successfully as possible?

I strongly suspect that a laptop that came with W8 installed is not going to meet requirements to run W11.
I would check that first.
