Anyone have this issue:
My iMac (5k, 27", late 2015) running 10.15.5 (Catalina) will not "see" my Apogee Ensemble (Thunderbolt) on power up.
The front panel of the Apogee shows that it's connected, and it also shows as connected in my System Report. But... it's not. Doesn't show in Apogee Control, doesn't show in System Prefs etc.
The only way I can get it to pop up is to either:
- Unplug the unit and then plug it back in (PITA, given that the sockets are on the back of both devices)
- 2 Power the device off, go into Terminal to kill CoreAudio, then power back on works (sometimes)
I've had the unit for quite some time now and had zero problems with it until now. I can't tie it back to any particular moment in time when it started. Apogee support (which is always excellent) had suggested that there could be a dodgily installed plug in so I removed everything, including the Apogee drivers etc., and reinstalled it all from scratch. Tested with a reboot after every plug in was installed (which is every bit as tedious as it sounds) and had no issues. Then, the next day, I couldn't see the device again.
Clearly it's not a deal breaking issue, I can get it to work, but it's a pain in the rear to have to sort it out before I can crack on...
Any ideas?
