I'm having issues with my Apogee Firewire Duet and my googling efforts thus far haven't turned up much.

When I plug the Duet in, all the lights on the unit light up and stay lit up. The unit is also not detected by Maestro or Garageband.

I have tried the Duet out on two different Macs (a mid-2012 MacBook Pro and a 2013 MacBook Air both running El Capitan).

I have tried direct firewire connection (on the MBP) and also connection via a thunderbolt to firewire adaptor (on the MBP & the MBA) and I get the same result.

I have also tried using two different FW800-FW400 cables, as well as daisy chaining the Duet through a G-Drive Mini to no avail.

I know that the adaptor and the firewire port in my MBP both work as the G-Drive works without issue.

I should also note that this is the first time I've used the Duet in a few months and I think it is the first time I've tried it with El Capitan.

Does anyone have any other suggestions that I could try, or has anyone encountered this issue before?

Is it perhaps el capitan? I thought when it first came out at least it "broke" firewire audio.... but I might be wrong.... I assume you have tried to reinstall maestro and see if the firmware updater "sees" it etc?

FW Duet is no longer supported in El Capitan, could be the reason for these issues.
I'm still on Mavericks for that very reason.

yup, i that's what it was I was remembering... not sure if Apogee "can" write drivers for it, and are not, or if it is a problem with compatability with OSX core audio and firewire etc.... (which would be a shame as they sold themselves as being the audio interface for macs etc for quite awhile.... integrating some of their functionality into Logic etc..)

As far as I'm aware, Apogee are not supporting El Capitan however it should still work as before. I'm sure I've seen others on this forum using the FW Duet with El Capitan. Here was the wording from Apogee:

I've also now tried uninstalling my Apogee applications using the uninstaller in the dmg file. I reinstalled and tried again but to no avail.

I've also noticed that actually not all the lights turn on. The bottom and fourth from bottom LEDs on the IN-2 meter don't light up.

Any other suggestions on what I could try? Seems like I'm running out of ideas

Have you tried another computer? Cable? Perhaps the thing is broken.

my duet it going through the same thing currently did you ever figure out what was wrong ?
