I've been a user of PSP MixSaturator for years and find the way that it can enhance low end with it's "warmth" feature to be extremely useful. It has been an indispensable part of many of my mixes. I frequently use it on busses and individual tracks that are weak in the low end. I've tried countless saturation/harmonic enhancer plugins and never found something that seems to transform the low end in the same manner, and so effortlessly. Unfortunately, MixSaturator is unstable on both my computers and frequently causes crashes Ableton Live and Pro Tools and doesn't appear to have been updated in a few years now. Does anyone know of another product that has a similar feature/sound? Software or hardware? Thanks

you should try Slate's vcc (neve channel) and/or VTM on the 15ips setting.
They really thicken up low-end where lacking and make everything sound more 'alive' and 3d to my ears.
PSP's console eq is also nice for adding low end but in a different way ofcourse.

You could try Massey Tape Head Saturator for free and see what you think.

Try embedding Mixsaturator in J-Bridge.

I second the slate virtual tape machine! !!!!! Amazing tape emulator! I also want to add the slate virtual buss compressor. ...I love the veri-mu emulation, drive the input gain to really saturate the signal! Both of these are amazing for the master buss!

First try free SonEQ. It has amazing "drive" knob for instant weight in low registers. And then you can use it's Pultec-style EQ to shape basses pre-drive.

I've used and loved MixSaturator for years and all the suggestions above are meant good but don't really help, guys.
Mixsaturator has a sub harmonic enhancer section with a very specific, smooth, nice sound. The additional tape saturation makes it very unique (the saturation itself sounds very musical).

I sold the bundle due to crashes and weird behaviour every now and then, but I often miss this plugin to be honest.

To suggest you something in that ball park or what I use to replace it as good as I could:

Plug & Mix Clarisonix for the sub bass part as my simple "set and forget plugin" (it's cheap too!) which definitely needs some smoothing and slight bass saturation afterwards. In that case it could be many things like a tape plugin (U-he Satin or Toneboosters Ferox. I also have TB Reelbus but find Ferox better for these tasks) or another musical saturation and/or compressor to drive the sub enhanced signal into.

Since I bought the P&M bundle I also often like their "Analoger" after the Clarisonix or the Moog filter emu which has a nice saturation built in. Also their Electro optical compressor has that certain smooth gooey sound which can complement the sub nicely.

Mixsaturator is really special and you might not get that exact same sound but you can get darn close to that with a chain of 2 or 3 simple plugins as I mentioned above.

any of these should get the job done....as far as getting the low end character you're looking for, it's worth demoing any of these or any of the others mentioned and seeing if you can get the effect..saturn and decapitator are both pretty versatile so you should be able to find the sound you want somewhere in there

I'm a fan of this plugin as well, and could never find a decent alternative.

I would advise trying using Bluecat Patchwork to load the plugin. I use the vst version through Patchwork in Pro Tools 10 and it's been working fine so far for me.

OP: have you tried contacting PSP Audioware about the instability you are experiencing? Although the plugin hasn't been updated in a while I think it's still supported and the support from PSP Audioware this far has been pretty excellent. So if they are able to reproduce and fix the bug causing the instability issues, we'll probably get an updated version within days.

Last one is a filter multi fx really, but it can do the job really well if you apply it correctly

so, after my last comment above: re-bought mixpack lol. so happy to have mixsaturator and mixpressor again!!!
