I'm running into an issue in DP11.22 on my new Mac Studio that's new to me. If I insert a tempo ramp in the conductor track, the audio performance meter goes ballistic when it gets there, with accompanying nasty noises. I've tried thinning out the events in the conductor track so that the tempo is only changing a couple of times per beat as opposed to 6 or more, and this makes the glitches fewer -- they're clearly happening exactly on each tempo change event -- but doesn't get rid of them. The only way to get rid of them is to raise the buffer size to at least 256 (I've been working at 128).

I've been using tempo automation for a long time, and don't recall ever running into this particular issue. I don't really understand why a tempo change should increase audio processing overhead -- isn't it only affecting MIDI events? I certainly don't want it to affect anything but MIDI events.

Hey what plugins are you running? I listened to a developer at KVR saying Sonoma solved some processor issues, and it turned out that Sonoma breaks a few plugs. Here anyway it broke Kontakt and Komplete Control, there are uopdates that fix most of it. the MPC and Amplitube software are still waiting Sonoma compatibility updates, as well as at least a half dozen other plugins here. An errant unsupported plugin can definitely get triggered by temopo changes.

I'm not on Sonoma yet, still 13.5.2 here.

But great call on checking plugins. Turns out that Soundtoys' new SuperPlate reverb is the culprit. It's a bit of a processor hog to start with (about 30% on the FX performance meter), but when the tempo automation hits, it goes crazy and pins the meter. I also notice that EchoBoy, which I'm also using on this mix, has a similar reaction to the automation -- it doesn't pin the meter, because it's using much less CPU to start with, but it jumps from hitting maybe 10% on the meter to about 60%.

If I replace the Soundtoys plugs with any of my available alternatives, they stay put on the meter when the automation hits. (The only exception is Altiverb, which jumps a little, but not significantly.) So it appears that there's something about the way the Soundtoys plugs are coded that isn't playing nice with DP's tempo function.

Mostly a lot of plugins are lagging a bit behind Apple updates, Ventura also reported issues with the latest versions of Kontakt, here I also get Amplitube, and the MPC software acting up a bit. The latest updates on everything have helped a bit, waiting on IK and a few others.
