So I have gotten sick of dealing with the post office lines (45 minutes some days) and got a bunch of those small flat rate USPS priority boxes. I completed the online shipping form and printed a label out. The heavier of the two boxes contains 2 CD in two hard plastic cases with a single sheet of newspaper. The USPS drop box in my neighborhood says 13 ounce maximum. I do not have a scale for weighing the box's.
My question is; how much approx does 2CD's in a priority mail small flat rate box weigh? I am thinking its under 13 ounces but if anyone can give me a better estimate that would be helpful so in the future I know how many discs I can get away with. I only ask because I am sure there are others on this board who ship the same way. Thanks.

Two CD's in standard Jewel Cases, in a "Small Flat Rate Priority Mail Box" weigh in right at 7 Ounces.. Add maybe another ounce for the label, newspaper, and tape.
Well I just found out that since I am using click-n-ship that my packages actually can exceed 13 ounces and be dropped off in the USPS street collection boxes. Its only packages mailed with standard postal stamps that have to be 13 ounces or less (I guess for security reasons). I can jam 8 CD's in these small priority boxes no problem (with the cases I use), print a label, walk down block and am good to go. All this for under $5 with a free delivery confirmation to myself and the client.
Sorry for the incredibly none slutty thread. This is just pretty exciting for me. I have wasted hours at the post office!

You can also stick 'em in your mailbox and put the flag up, or give them to any postal carrier you happen to see.

City living over here (tiny mailbox) so its going to have to be the pickup boxes. There is one a block away from me though. Pretty cool system, its actually cheaper than going to the post office, saves time and the free automated emailed delivery confirmation adds an extra level of professionalism and reassurance ta-boot. I am happy about my little discovery today.
