Ok, so I'm about to go to Costco and pick up some probably overpriced $80 speakers made for the ipod for my wife for a gift.

The thought occurred to me, why not rather spend $100+ on a pair of monitors that can be used for voiceover and listening to music from the ipod.

I know nothing about monitors. I don't think I need something very powerful or with great bass or anything. I'm sure the $80 ipod speakers at costco aren't great, so I'm just looking for something that can serve both purposes and sound at least as good as the costco set.

Is this a reasonable quest? Any suggestions?

Seems to have an adjustment called mid-eq which could be adjusted depending on if it was being used as a monitor or just music speaker.

If I got it, I'd only be able to get one, but that seems ok for voice and ipod.
