Yamaha 03D as a software controller?

I'll be picking it up at the end of the month. It will replace my Mackie 1202VLZ Pro.

I know this is not it's sole purpose but when i'm not recording it would be nice if I could use the faders/buttons on the 03D to control faders/buttons in Nuendo 4 or Reaper 3. I was thinking of connecting the MIDI I/O on the 03D to the MIDI I/O on my Delta 1010.

Is it possible to configure a Yamaha 03D as a controller for software or has anyone used it in this way?

Well despite the lack of responses to this I managed to get 2 way communication between the 03D and Nuendo and it was a lot easier than I thought. Two MIDI cables and a minute for programming and I now have a 32 channel controller with channel mutes as well as a digital mixer with effects. What is a surprise is that I don't actually use the MIDI Remote function on the mixer at all...

And I have the XML file saved.

It's pretty easy. Run your midi cables and then enter the midi set-up screen in Nuendo and program the controls.

Use the 'Learn' button to register the controls.

If you know Nuendo it should take you less than 5 minutes to get up and running.
