Here's the catch: I can't stand wearing headphones. I have glasses, which makes them super uncomfortable to wear for anything but the occasional mixing and mastering.

first to tell you to get speakers. I would be among the first to tell you to get speakers even if your room is "not treated" or is "big" or is "small". I would recommend speakers even if you did not wear glasses. Everybody should have speakers.
But there is no reason to not seek out improvements on the Headphone Comfort front as well. I wear glasses and I have a few pairs of headphones that work well for me for long-term wearing. One is a pair of Grado 225s. All these Grados are super-light and just rest gently on top of your ears. Obviously not good for isolation. The other ones I can wear for long periods are the Beyer DT series. DT 770, DT990 etc They are really big around and give good isolation but their cushioning is some kind of velour or something that 'gives way' to the glasses frame better than a leather or plastic covered cushion will.
Another thing I have heard of is people "breaking in" their headphone cushions to have a 'channel' for the glasses frame. I am not sure exactly how they do this. I assume it is with a dummy head or an elastic band or a clamp or something and not by wearing them for 12 hours a day.

Everyone I know recommends bass amps for synthesizers,
for a gig maybe. Not for studio monitoring.

but the internet also says they suck for listening to anything else.
for once the internet is right

I just need something good, that will allow for a full range of sounds, without being expensive or too tailored to properly treated rooms.
I can vouch for the Kalis. We got a pair on an "emergency" basis when our speakers blew, but now we use them all the time.
