The last time I had a noise like that, it wasn't the speaker (whew!). I had inadvertently grabbed a splitter cable instead of an insert cable to chain-in an outboard mono EQ on one side of the master-outs. It made a sawtooth sound quite similar to yours on just one monitor.
Not saying your issue is the same, but I'm not immediately convinced it's your speaker.
Unless you are disinclined to continue troubleshooting, you still have a few simple checks left before you throw in the towel.
You tried re-seating the cable, now try swapping it out entirely with another.
If that doesn't help, try a different source than what you have been using. Try music from stereo, phone, whatever, to rule out your current source.
I've even seen speaker issues that were location-based. Physically swap speakers from side to side.
Divide and conquer. You are looking for a change. Any change, as that is information.
Sometimes I even get lucky banging on sh*t that won't work, but I couldn't recommend that on a pristine, highfalutin forum the likes of GS, now, could I?
At any rate, I wish you luck getting this sorted.
Best,
Frank
