Hi! I recently posted on
Reddit regarding Tom mics and whether adding some SM57s would be the best choice. I got so much great input and would love to ask a follow up. I currently use Pyle 57s (I also have 414s I could use but currently have one set up for vocal duties in my "everything patched" setup) and am looking for something to replace them with- was originally thinking SM57s because you can never have enough but the consensus was that maybe it would be better to look at something better suited for Toms (especially since those Pyle's will still do the 57 thing for recording).
I stumbled upon the UA SD-7 Mics and was wondering if anyone has any experience with them? It would be great to get the 421 sound (among others) at around 100-150 and these seem to offer plenty of versatility. Any thoughts on picking these up over some other classic or standard mic in a similar range? Thanks so much!
