Mobile rigs
Great idea,
I spent the last 20 or so years, doing as much recording out of my studio as I could.
Enamored, with the 70's records that came out of the UK, which were NOT recorded in Studios, by some of the greatest Rock bands in the World.
That said, I made a few mobile set ups each used for different size sessions.
The first one pictured is based around a
Merging Anubus interface, with or without Hapi
(not in this picture) which is the smaller, & cleaner of my two setups.
Usually used for overdubs after the main tracking is done.
Imac Pro, iLoud monitors, & iPad all mounted on a Triad Orbit Stand.
The second one is my attempt at copying the setups used in the most famous mobile units in the UK, during the 70's.
Ex:
The Rolling Stones Mobile,
The Manor Mobile,
Ronnie Lane Mobile,
Island Records Mobile,
and the list goes on....
Funny enough the one thing they all had in common, is their console, which was a Helios..
So I designed a portable NO EXCUSE system, with a LOT of character...
Using Helios modules, a Neve, and a API, summing mixer to allow me to get the sound of my three favorite consoles in one portable (although portable is debatable) package.
It allows me to track and or mix 16 channels of vintage sonics to a Radar Digital recorder.
Six racks in total, and one more that houses the mics!
TT 96 point Patch Bays are built into the rear of each rack, and the lower racks hold the Monitors as well as all the interconnecting snakes and cables.
All self contained, and I can usually set up (wire) the complete rig in about 1 hour.
Building a new rig now, using a bunch of Universal Audio pieces...
It never ends...
Good luck with your project....keep us posted!
