So I'm thinking of buying a TLM 102 but I've heard plenty of people saying it can be overly warm or can be dominant in the low ends at times. Is this the case? I've recently bought an sm7b and did not like it at all purely because of how the low ends sounded with my voice. How does this compare with the TLM 102? I use the NT1a atm which i love for its high end but it's just a bit too sibilant, which is why im upgrading. My voice is fairly deep so do raw deep vocals still somewhat bright on the TLM?
TLM isn't bright at all, and has a very distinctive texture to the midrange that works well with deep voices. The top end of the TLM isn't the nicest when boosted so keep that in mind if you're aiming for something bright. With the NT1-A I generally find a split band DeEsser above 8k fixes most of the sibilance problems, or a 6-12dB lowpass around 10k.
