Hello All,

Has anyone spent much time on the new Midas M32, in terms of managing a ton of files? I can't seem to find the best method of managing files among multiple users without inserting a thumb drive every time.

Here's my scenario:

I work at a venue with a few rotating techs. We do nightly entertainment with a bunch of different bands, and every night, the band's setup is stored and saved for their next visit.

With the Yamaha filing system (M7, LS9, etc...), it was really straight forward- You choose a file to open, and within that file there are different "scenes". Each band has their own File with different Scenes for different configurations or modified setups.

What I am trying to figure out is how to organize files on the M32 in the same fashion. Each band should have their own main file, with sub-scenes in said file.

The tricky part is having multiple users share the same "files", but be able to work with their own "scenes".

Anybody have any ideas? Thanks!

On my X32 (same file system I believe) I just leave a small USB drive plugged in all the time. There are drives that barely stick out of the port.

Show files don't save internally on M32/X32's, need a USB drive to save them on. Perhaps keep one plugged in. Woah, deja vu...

You know what, I'll probably just use different band files as a "show", sort of like how the Yamaha filing system works.

I'm sure all of the various safes and snippet function serve a purpose to someone out there, but I don't think it's practical for my use here.

I sort of figured out what I was trying to do, and it was relatively easy.

At first, I could only figure out how to Import/Export a SCENE, when I wanted to store and/or load a SHOW file. Here's how, for those seeking assistance:

In the SHOW CONTROL section of the console, press "View" to access the Show Control Home Tab.

By pressing the UTILITY button, you now have the option to IMPORT or EXPORT your SHOW.

By advancing to the Scenes Tab, the UTILITY button now gives you the ability to import or export individual SCENES.

It took me a little while to dig around and figure out what I was trying to accomplish in the first place...new surfaces can have that deer-in-headlights effect!!!

I noticed this and wanted to reply that using the Behringer PC or iPad app to manage the Scenes, Scribble Strip, and Library entries is MUCH simpler than managing from the console itself. The console does not understand DNS, so you have to give it a hard coded IP address, then make sure your DNS server excludes that address from being assigned (usually your router is doing the DNS assignment). BTW - the current release of the app seems to need the v3 firmware, at least we had to upgrade firmware when we upgraded the app to get everything working smoothly.

I know this thread is a little outdated but hoping for some guidance. Just started using an M32 and trying to figure out the best way to manage scenes on usb drive.

The situation is that there is a team of rotating engineers all using the same console and "show" file. Logically, I want to have a scene saved for every band I work with so the next time I work for the band I already have them dialed in, but I have no place to save scenes on the console because all the slots have been used by other engineers. Enter USB drive.

From my understanding of what I have read on-line The console can only export show files to usb and not individual scenes from said show file. Ideally I would like to simply export individual scenes that are currently loaded on the console, and then import them the next time around, but from what I can find, it doesn't seem like this is possible without exporting the whole show. But if I export the whole show I pull in all the scenes already saved to said show. I don't have the option of exporting/importing each band as a "show" because then, from my understanding, that will overwrite all the scenes other engineers have saved to the console.

Am I missing something? Any guidance or recommendations appreciated.
