So on my stage at my venue I'm having a hard time containing my lows, but it's only the vocals that I'm having a hard time with. On each vocal channel I have the HPF on at 80hz and all the lows cut out and most of em cut on the monitor EQs. Even with all that, I'm still having low frequency build-up and swells. Help, please???

Are your subs in phase ?

Do you have a crossover to subwoofers, or are they fed with an auxiliary?

I prefer mixing with subs on an aux, so that only the channels I want go to the subs. But you should be able to get a good sound using a crossover, if the system has been balanced using pink noise and measurement mics, and not just set up to deliver massive bass.

A few others tests... does the problem persist in the mains if the monitors are muted? Does the problem persist in the monitors if the mains are muted?

Could you post a photo or describe the graphic EQ settings on the main outs?

Yes, keep your vox mics out of the subs altogether.

Man if I were to have it my way I would have an aux-fed sub, which is going to happen soon once my other console gets out of the shop.

As of now, my crossover is kind of a concrete setup: The mains are rolled off by the drive rack and the subs that are on my mono fader are rolled off by the low-pass filter on said fader on the console.

Also my stage is about 2 feet off of the ground and hollow. Would that contribute to this problem and if so, what would be the best avenue to take to fix it??

The night that I had posted this thread, the lead vocalist was using a wireless and I've always had problems when people roam wherever with the handhelds on this system. If there's something that can help me with that, please let me know because I feel like tried about everything to fight that gremlin.

I ran a Pink Floyd tribute a couple nights and I didn't have any problems with that, other than trying to push the quaint and timid vocals level with the more powerful ones.

Are you perhaps using "Auto-EQ" to set up your system? If so, you should stop. Auto-EQ can give you a huge LF boost.

I think they meant to make sure the subs are in polarity with one another or they may possibly have been referencing aligning the subs to the mains.

Is the mono send on your current console a dedicated mix bus where you select the signal to "mono" or not for each channel or is the mono signal simply a sum of the main left and right signals? If the latter then you might want to consider using the DriveRack as your crossover, it may provide more flexibility on the related low pass filter as well as additional processing for the sub(s).

How do you plan on implementing aux fed subs with the other console? Getting the aux signal out is one thing but you also need the processing to low pass that signal as well as providing any other processing for the sub(s) (high pass, EQ, limiting, etc.), will your DriveRack support that in addition to processing the mains or do you have some other processing to serve that purpose?

I ment: are your subs in phase with each other , ie: if you hold battery to the speaker terminals , do they move in the same direction ?
If not they will cancel out each other and give you a perception of lower bas in mix , but on stage it will vary depending on how close you are to the subs and give you strage feeds especially if the talent i moving around
