1/4" aux send to earbuds. Easiest / cheapest / best way to do?

I can picture just using a mono to stereo cable and plugging in a set of earbuds.

Someone could crank a send and cause a problem. But I guess this may be possible with any in ear system.

Is there another simple cost effective way?

4 individual channels. I have used these. I was pleasantly surprised. It sounded pretty good. Clean, and reliable. Only down side is the 1/8" stereo cords running around the stage out to each performer. Don't run 1/4" to a performer. The cabling is too heavy and makes it want to tug on your IEM buds.
