Next time around - good position until the major company (manufacturer - no names) started getting *really* flaky - - bummer. Really enjoyed it there. Now this position; so far after almost 13 years I am still *really* happy to show up every day... Despite my age and some attendant health issues. Wouldn't trade it.
Years back we used to do live sound - really big system. Of course I was the "engineer" behind it. Basically cost me an approximate 10db loss in HF hearing when someone keyed the system ON while I was standing in front of a 60° double-drivered radial at full blast. Never recovered and now wear hearing aids (which I don't mind at all since I can now hear high frequencies again.)
All in all - appreciate what you've got whilst it's there... It may not come back.
It may not come back...or worse, it may come back sounding like distorted shitty gibberish that destroys the integrity of the music and makes everything sound like shit. Consider yourself lucky you don't have tinnitus, ringing, diplacusis, and dysacusis/recruitment. Consider yourself extremely lucky in fact.
You are lucky. I'm sorry this happened to you, I hope that your hearing quality is intact and that it didn't affect the way how those high frequencies sound when you use hearing aids.
