I just came across a slightly pricey (150€) TG500 and I'm thinking about getting it. Price is not the best I know but I think there's something about it. It sounds a little dated from the demos I've heard but I have confidence I could coax some nice pads/fx from it. I already have a Jv1080,Kawai K1...
...because of this fantastic sound library someone at Stirling/Syco had done, we had several Akai samplers also. Yamaha TG-33 and Tg 500 modules as well as my TR-909, MKS-70 and the crappy M1-R. I've forgotten some details I'm sure but hey !
...probably get in 500 format are: - API 512V - Avedis MA5 and MD7 - AEA RPQ 500 - Burl B1 and B1D - Chandler TG 500 - Purple Audio Biz - A Designs P1 and then for compressors, the Rupert Neve Designs stuff has very little competition IMO. I moved on from 500 series a while ago but I owned both 512c's...
