Description

The original reference speaker of yesteryear is back, and built in the USA! This listing is for a single speaker. Available in singles or pairs, these passive speakers require an external amplifier. After lengthy testing and remanufacturing our driver, we finally were able to achieve the purest sound equalling the sound of the original 5C Super Sound Cube. All componets of our driver are made of the highest quality materials here in the United States. The cabinet is built with mahogany laminate surround, black laminate front and back, and quality craftsmanship here in our Nashville shop. The 5C, which became famous in the 1970\'s and 80\'s and has been used in virtually every major recording studio worldwide, is still the undisputed industry standard for \"real world\" referencing in the recording studio. Durability, flat full-range response, amazing power handling and portability have made AURATONES the Recording, Broadcasting, and Motion Picture industries favorite “mixdown monitors.” . . . for comparison and final mixes, auditioning, remotes, and reference standard speakers.

It actually has high frequency response, and that focused midrange (with no crossover) which makes them so valuable. They also SOUND really nice, like a nice small hi-fi speaker should. It will instantly remind you of what you hear in the car, the grocery store, a clock radio and maybe a TV. They don\'t hide info either, rather they make things that stand out really stand out in the mix. Highly recommended, this is one of those out of the ballpark wins for all studios...now new again with full warranty.

...and were a 1/4 inch less in depth, though as iLCacciLLo alluded to, there are different "versions of the Original Auratone 5C." Regarding the driver, we still use a 5 inch driver and 4 inch paper cone as the original 5Cs did, and sell many of them as a drop in replacements for...

Old Auratone vs new Auratone 5C's.

...things regarding statements about the 5C's my grandfather and family have been manufacturing for over 50 years. "Not True. For the vintage Auratone 5C only 2 different drivers were used: CTS SR10B and later the Pioneer A11EC80-02F" Incorrect, there have been at least 8 different variations of the 5C, which has used different drivers. I know...
