Description

Classic Console Sound for Your Studio Rig!

Trident's A-Range channel strip gives you two channels of legendary console sound. A 2-channel, rackmountable version of the legendary Trident A-Range console, the A-Range gives you the sound of both the preamplifier and the 4-band equalizer used on countless hit records from the early '70s and on. In fact, it features the same all-discrete circuitry developed by Malcolm Toft and Barry Porter and found in the original A-Range consoles, only 13 of which were ever made. Whether you're recording to a modern DAW or old-school analog tape, the Trident A-Range channel strip is the front end you need!

Trident A-Range Dual-channel All-discrete Preamp and 4-band Equalizer at a Glance:

  • The sound and the circuitry of the recording console used of countless hit records
  • A flexible signal path that's perfect for both microphones and instruments
  • LED peak limiters help you achieve perfect gain-staging throughout your signal path
  • The sound and the circuitry of the recording console used of countless hit records

Trident's 2-channel A-Range channel strip is an exact replica of the original A-Range console's all-discrete transistor circuitry, which was developed by Malcolm Toft and Barry Porter back in the early '70s. That means when you pick up an A-Range channel strip, you're getting the sound responsible for countless hit records by such artists as Elton John, Dire Straits, David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, and many more. Short of buying one of the few priceless A-Range consoles still in existence (they only ever made 13 of them), the Trident A-Range channel strip is the only way to get this amazing sound.

A flexible signal path that's perfect for both microphones and instruments
The A-Range channel strip has everything you need to get the best and most natural sound out of your microphones and outboard gear. Its sonically rich and detailed preamplifiers (each of which offer switchable phantom power) are excellent for anything from low-output ribbon microphones to hard-hitting line-level gear. The A-Range's equalizer section even includes the inductor-based low-mid and high-mid bands that gave the original console its unique sound. Fully transformer-balanced inputs and outputs put the finishing touches on the A-Range's signal path, ensuring that you get the highest possible sound quality.

LED peak limiters help you achieve perfect gain-staging throughout your signal path
In addition to an insert point that you can switch from pre-EQ to post-EQ, one of the more useful and unique extra features of the A-Range channel strip is a set of metering LEDs between each of its sections. These metering LEDs are located after the preamp, after the EQ, and after the output amplifier. They let you keep an eye on your overall gain-staging, allowing you to quickly iron out any distortion in your A-Range channel strip's signal path.

Trident A-Range Dual-channel All-discrete Preamp and 4-band Equalizer Features:
  • A 2-channel version of the original Trident A-Range console that's perfect for your analog or digital recording rig
  • Loaded with the original all-discrete, transistor-based circuitry developed by Barry Porter and Malcolm Toft
  • Balanced inputs and outputs ensure the highest sound quality
  • Independent preamplifiers that are perfect for both microphones and line-level sources
  • Switchable 48-volt phantom power available on both preamps
  • 4-band equalizer with classic Trident induction-coil-based high-mid and low-mid bands responsible for the characteristic Trident sound
  • Selectable pre-/post-EQ insert point lets you incorporate your outboard gear
  • LED peak meters between each section lets you keep an eye on your overall gain-staging to prevent distortion

Sound Techniques USA products & console

...years! Almost 2 years ago, as many of you know I had some monitor modules stolen from my original Trident A Range console.. I began a journey reaching out to people who might have known where on earth to find parts to rebuild four monitor modules! In that process I came across...

Focusrite Red 3 & 230: Anyone shed a light?

A classic Neve, Trident A Range or Helios console? Have you had a chance to hear or use in person a Focusrite Red 3 with the transformers and compare to one without? If not what would you be hoping to hear, that you don't hear in a Red 3 without?
