For $500 bucks I built a computer with a fraction of these specs and it works like a charm. Part of your problem sounds like you have defective hard drives. Do you have a warranty on the computer?
...wildly, I agree. Sometimes inputs and outputs are even aligned differently. I think that was the case with the Steinberg MR816x if I remember correctly.
