...meaning WHEN IT IS RECORDED DIGITALLY. find an example of aliasing on an analog tone. not a recorded analog tone, an analog tone itself. you may find this difficult. everything in your quote above refers to aliasing in the recorded digital signal. recording an analog signal to digital medium does not negate the meaning of aliasing.

How do you like it so far ?

I'm considering adding the P08 Rack to my setup. Not sure about the new P12, it sounds a bit too digital/harsh to my ears. but, since I'm not in a big rush, I will be also taking a close look at the P12, listening to some of the audio demos of both P08, and P12, I prefer the sonic character of the P08

Let us know what type of sounds you are using the P08 for the most, and any general comments, feedback as you get to know and experiment with your P08. (I'm sure it's a lot of fun)

What made you decide to sell your P08 and pre-order the P12 instead ?

So far I feel the P08 is more in tune with my taste, compared to the P12.

Anything specific that you heard in the P12 that made you decide to go for it, and get rid of your P08 ? Were you not happy with what the P08 offered ?

Just curious to know how/why you made that decision.

I feel that the Prophet 12 has a wider variety of sound characteristics. To me, the Prophet 08 sounds kind of limited to where it can go. The demos I heard from the Prophet 12 show me a bunch of capabilities compared to the Prophet 08. Don't get me wrong the Prophet 08 does sound good, especially if you have a bunch of synths. It'll be another color to use when you want to.

I didn't use the Prophet 08 as much as I wanted to. I can really see myself using the Prophet 12 in every song, with my Virus and Slim Phattys too. It has good low end and a full sound. I really like how lush those pads sound on some of the demos too. It offers a lot of features that the Prophet 08 doesn't have of course. Another plus I like is it sounding spacey, and I love going to space!

I feel like once I get it, if I don't like it, I can always sell it and buy the P08 again, if I want to. I sold it for $1,800.00 and got the P12 for $2,500.00 so it wasn't that bad of a deal.

Maybe I missed some of the better audio demos of the P12. Are these demos (the ones you liked) on this forum ? or on DSI's Website ? maybe a link will help me re-examine the P12's sounds capabilities.

Or maybe we have different taste, the demos I heard are all on this forum. Check the DSI Prophet 12 Sound Demos thread, and the Prophet 12 thread, towards the end. I heard maybe two or three on YouTube that was not on here.

Sure, we all have differing tastes when it comes to sound, and synths.

So that might be one factor I would consider here. But I will go back and listen carefully to the P12 audio demos here at GS and at the DSI website.

I love my P08! I am very happy I got this first as supposed to getting a virus first. In a world where hip hop is becoming saturated with digital synths, which I do have a good amount of, the P08 is a breath of fresh air.

I pair it with NI Guitar Rig in pro tools for FX and I am good to go. Greenlights is right in that the P08 is somewhat limited in its palette but most fully analog synths are. But what it does, it does very very well. It has real texture!. You can almost touch the sound!

I will say though that you can get some nice weird sounds when you set the lfo to really high speeds and send it virtually anywhere.

I have found that just using it for one sound (preferably polyphonic) in a mix with my digital sounds, is enough to just make my beats sound rich and multidimensional.

Please take every thing I have said with the bias I am coming from. I had an all digital palette prior to this instrument, so having and exploring it is like I just took the red pill from morpheus
