Hello all!

I have the Korg X50. I am not incredibly experienced with some of the more in depth workings of the synth and what it can do. I am attempting to explore some of those options, however I am having trouble. Here is what I want to do:

I have a gig this saturday and I need to play a 18 note pattern looped for the whole 4 and a half mintue song. I am the lead instrument on the start of the song. so that 18 note pattern are the only notes playing for the first few seconds of the song. My goal is that when I am done playing that pattern I will take my hands off the keyboard and that pattern will continue to play without me doing anything. I have a second synth next to em and I need to be able to play a different sound on that synth and sing while that pattern is continuing to loop. HOW do I do this???? I have read through the whole operation's manual twice and can't figure out a thing. There doesn't appear to be anything in there about looping a sound. I thought I had it when I was in the arpeggiators section however it doesn't seem to be looping. In super basic terms I want to hit one note have it record me playing that note and the 17 after then when I take my hands off the keyboard it auto loops that track. Is this even possible or am I fooling myself? I assumed this keyboard could loop a sequence but if it can, I'm eiether really dumb or it isn't in the operations manual. I would REALLY like to not use a laptop for this. I have no way to hook up my laptop on stage and need to be able to do it without one. Anyone that can write me a super simple step-by-step guide on EXACTLY what to do on the X50 to get it to loop will have my eternal thanks. I am very confused and I need to figure this out by saturday.

I have an X50 but have not dived in to it THAT deep (ever). But, I don't recall it ever saying it had record phrase ability. My MM6 has that, and you can do it from a USB thrumb drive, but never found anything close to that on the X50. I could be wrong though

An arpeggiator lets you play a variety of phrases using just one finger, and the X50 provides two polyphonic arpeggiators! For example, in Combination mode you can use the two arpeggiators to play drums and bass while you play chords and melody, giving you amazing power for live performances. In addition to five basic preset arpeggio patterns, the X50 also provides an additional 251 patterns containing various phrases. Of course, you can also create your own original patterns and store them in internal memory.

Well thank you very much for the reply! I never saw that.. I'll take a look into it and see if I can figure it out. Is there any way fro you to try it and see if you can figure it out as well? Like I said I have never dug this deep and done any of this so any advice you have is much aprriciated. I guess I'll read the manual again. Anyone else have any suggestions?

I have an X50. You can't do what you want with it, sorry.

You can program a pattern into one of the arpeggiators in advance, then play it back as long as you want. You can also transpose the playback of that arpeggiator based on the notes you're playing in real time. What the X50 *can't* do is loop real-time input from the keyboard.

If the notes you want to loop are fixed (i.e., you're not going to improvise), you could program them into the arpeggiator in advance and play that during your song. Honestly I don't even recommend that, though - custom arpeggiator programs are a pain in the @ss to write on the X50, and you may not be able to write your entire loop anyway, depending on the tempo and time signature.

X50 owner here. What he says is true.

However, it might be worth *trying* to do this with the arpeggiators, if you don't mind sweating through the manual. The Korg arpeggiators are not convenient, but they *do* have more options than a simple step sequencer -- Remember, all the looping drum and other instrument patterns in the presets were done with the arpeggiators.

There is some "ok" software for programming the X50 via USB (or was it midi? I fergit) ..... and MAYBE that would make ARP making easier?
The software was simply and fun to use, and actually taught me how to MENU DIVE in the X50 better. --- but I never Arp'ed with it.
