Hi, just got this sampler and can't figure out if it needs service or not.
The problem is the output - it's really low. Plugged my synths and drums in the line in, both the headphone outs and the main mix outs are extremely quiet. Can barely hear it. Setting the record levels from L to H in the menu only distorts the sound leaving it at the same level.
The volume slider on the left doesn't seem to do anything either - should it only affect playback?
Thanks,
Andre
the volume slider only fx playback.. the recording level need to be set right.. and yes..it has a very low output in relation to other sampler of that time... its more a -10db machine not a +4 db one...
try sending some of the factory disk sounds to it via midi dump (lots of disks and all the programs are available at the yahoo fz mailing list). Check if the volume of those is ok.

Thanks for the tip, the samples did load perfectly and played as they should. So I guess I have some kind of issue with the inputs?
Thanks for all the help guys, problem solved. Turned out you can't really monitor the inputs on this thing and this made me think that there's something wrong. Once the data is recorded it plays back fine.

Now, figure out how to program the FZ so that any parameter is velocity sensitive. :-)
